As one of the world's biggest makers of beer, Germans take pride with different beer styles.
Ordering a beer is not a matter of mentioning the popular brand name. There are varied
tastes to consider when it comes to German beers. With such a wide selection, you better
get acquainted to some of the best.
Berliner Weisse
Berliner Weisse is a wheat beer with lower alcohol content. Because of its refreshing
taste and foamy head, it is dubbed as the "champagne of German beers." The tart flavor of
this beer makes it a good combination with raspberry and can also be enjoyed with steaks.
Altbier
Altbier is a popular variety of German beer. This beer has a bitter taste you're sure to
distinguish in the end. This can be a light to medium-bodied beer. Unlike other beers,
it's not too overwhelming. It's not too bitter or malty but has a bit of fruity, dry
flavor. It is often recommended with meat dishes, like roasts and steaks, and cheese.
Bock
Most bocks are known for their full-bodied nature and malty lager. It is high in alcohol
content. It comes with different sub-varieties including helles bock and eisbock. German
beer drinkers recommend drinking it like a port wine. A good combination for this beer
would be strong cheeses, steaks, and game dishes.
Germany has some of the best-tasting beers, so never miss a chance to sample some of them on
your trip.

If I will put into one word my whole vacation experience at Cologne Germany, the word would be "fascinating." I was there two months ago, because I had to accompany my sister in her new dormitory. What can I say? The city is truly a magnificent blend of uniqueness and glamor that sets it apart from Germany's major cities. I was instantly captivated by the attractive tourist destinations of Cologne and my memories of my stay will always be with me.

Located near the famous River Rhine of Germany, Cologne has a unique dialect and superb means of making or producing beer. Aside from that, the city is also regarded for two important tourism factors: the city's noted fragrances and popular cathedrals. The city's name was coined after an Italian retailer who first marketed a very popular water fragrant in Germany. I guess that is quite a name for the city.

The largest edifice in the whole region of Germany is none other than the Cologne Cathedral. The construction of the building took place almost 600 years ago. Due to immense size of the cathedral, several construction pauses took place between years 1248 and 1880. Cologne Cathedral's towers stood magnificently in the sky. Found inside the cathedral is the Sarcophagus of the Magi, which is a known treasured artifact of Kolner Dom.

Many of my friends who have been to Germany also observed that the German locals fancy chatting, strolling the parks and streets, meeting with friends, and dining at various cafes and restaurants. Also, they prefer outdoor dining so they can enjoy the sunshine, the nature, and the fresh air. The series of dining establishments in Germany cater to the outdoor dining preferences of the Germans.

The Germans have numerous places where they can spend their daily dining rituals. Such places could be cozy and small or big dining locations. Generally, the furnitures of outdoor dining establishments in Germany may either be fancy or cheap. Many restaurants use decorative accessories, fancy tablecloths, and fine cutlery. The cafes usually serve delectable cakes, cream cakes, breads, and cookies. As such observations, I now know how to blend in with their passion for chatting and dining preference.

I agree that Germany excels in many kinds of designs. It could be in latest engines, fancy and expensive type of cars, and even stately architectural designs. But what about fashion designs or sense? Some fashion critics say that Germany doesn't really have a common sense of dress styles. That is why, according to some, Germans are not internationally noted when it comes to fashion. I definitely disagree with such claim.
Monday, May 7. 2007
As I have said, I do not agree with the claims that Germans do not have a common or unified dress sense. Even a lousy and beastly looking communities gave some sort of dress preference. Some of the most common German dress styles are leather trousers, boots, and jackets for men, while the German ladies prefer to wear stonewash as for their denims. Going back to the German's lack of common dress sense, I again disagree to some people's claims that Germans are not known internationally when it comes to fashion.

In this modern digital world, information is everything! Yes, and it's a good thing we have all the information we need right smack at the tips of our fingers. One advantage of free and accessible information is that it helps us a lot on our travels and stuff. I heard of this travel tip in Germany which would make your trips as cheap as a lemonade drink in America! But you have to use actual public transport systems and all, you know. This is because gas prices have a rather global pricing system.
Tuesday, May 1. 2007
Bus rides in beautiful Germany can actually be relatively cheap. If you know where to buy your tickets and all, that is. It's the same case with the German train rides and all. A nice tip I got is that you could ask for discounted tickets from the public transport system company of Germany. Looking for their local offices is a good thing to do. But in order for you to get more discounted tickets, you should be a frequent user of the German public transport system. Next thing you have to do is know just how exactly what is there to be done so as to save on German train rides. Yes, saving on bus tickets and on train tickets are totally different things!
Monday, April 30. 2007
Train rides in Germany have this sort of heavily complicated pricing and buying system. The only way you could save on train tickets in this country is to buy tickets in advance. But if you have company, they are required to pay only half of what you paid for. Thus, one good trick around this system so as for you to save more on train tickets is for you to be the actual company, and not them! Plus, kids also have discounts and all. But I think if you're with a kid, chances as you're gonna be the one who has to actually pay up in full.

This truly is the modern age of digital information technology. Back then, most people were denied access to various information. But now, governments are planning to make such documents accessible for public viewing! In recent events, the German government is planning to open up and make accessible to the general public the archives of one of their most well known concentration camps. The actual death camp holds about a ton of information on the damn Nazi regime.
Saturday, April 28. 2007
The German government is planning to let the general public have a peek at the documents contained within the vaults of one of its death camps. The actual death camp, a memento of the goddamn Holocaust, stands in the good German town Bad Arolsen. It holds quite a ton of information on the victims of the Hitler regime. German government officials have stated that making the archives contained within its vaults accessible to the general public would generally educate and inform the people of what actually happened in the Holocaust.
Friday, April 27. 2007
The Holocaust was Hitler's final solution for German dominance of the world. With this final solution, death camps were built so as to purge their country of "lesser mortals". The concentration camp in this country's town, Bad Arolsen, holds vital information on almost 17 million Holocaust victims. Its government is planning to make the archives contained within this death camp's vaults accessible to the general public. They have stated that it is for the dissemination of actual information so as to help future generations know of the stupidity of wars and racism.
