The Berlin Wall had fallen a very long time ago, yet many still feel that the region is still a separate city. Also, if your mind forms a mental image of a German city in a spy or war setting, you definitely got the wrong impression. Berlin is among the most pleasant and greenest city in Germany. Though the place was once regarded as very unconventional, Berlin is now a major cultural site with all its museums, concert halls, and galleries.

When you prefer to understand Germany's contemporary features of promise and complexities, the city of Berlin is the excellent place for you to explore such qualities. Berlin's cultural wonders, like the Altes Museum, Museum Island, and Bode Museum are a few of the must-see destinations in Berlin. Shopping at first-class stores and strolling the calm and glorious streets of Berlin are also a couple of nice things to do in that city.

In classical times, the names Beethoven, Mozart, Wolfgang, and Bach would definitely ring more bells than a cathedral on a wedding day. These musicians have defined how music is being created today, and their music would stay well within our minds' ears more than it would in our minds' eyes. Even a damn rock concert would lose its audience with a performance from anyone of these classical giants!
There have also been many European musicians that have made it big in these modern times. If we have Jimi Hendrix, then our Brit friends have the Beatles to boot! But, I think we just don't have a classical musician worthy of being put up in the ranks of these European classical giants. A German classical genius, who goes by the name of Bach, has even an instrument that is being displayed for public viewing in the Leipzig Collegium.
The baroque German harpsichord is among the greatest musical creations humanity as seen and actually heard. It resonates sound more than a small orchestra would, with its 16-inch stop and its separate organ-styled pedal. When Bach moved on to hold a directorship position on the Collegium, about a dozen or so performances of this classical giant was done using this instrument. The Leipzig Collegium is now publicly displaying this instrument, and it would be worth about a year of tasty gourmet meals if you miss seeing it once your in Germany.

There are lots of popular sights in Germany. Different cities have different attractions. The towering domes and castles are reminiscent of ancient times; the museums commemorate German artistry; the impressive buildings represent the future of the land; and the quaint countryside immortalizes modest and decent living. That concludes why Germany is a premier tourist destination in Europe.
How would you like to penetrate an honorary gate of freedom and unity? The gate who freed thousands of bottled souls! In 1989, history marks the fall of the Berlin Wall as the Brandenburg Gate stood witness to reunified East and West Germany.
The Brandenburg Gate is a powerful landmark in Berlin. The pillars retell the outbreak and triumph in German history. Its crowning glory is a bronze- plated goddess on chariot of four travelling horses. The sandstone gate is an entry not only to fine architectural delghts but to the unfolding of world civilization. Often, festivals, demostrations and various events take place on its ground.
Berlin locals hail it as their national treasure while tourists continue to pour in. What makes it different from other worthy tourist sight is the value it preserves a couple of decades back. It soars as a monumental pride for Germany's long-sought prayers of unity.

Germany is among the countries of Europe that has a very colorful past. Also, this country has made a mark all over the world history. This country is famous because of the numerous spots like Berlin Wall that served as a division among the Germans in the ancient times.
But in 1989 it was opened by their authorities and because of great joy the people climbed the wall and they celebrated. Up to this time, Berlin Wall is still among the popular tourist attractions of Germany. However, there is a certain place in Germany that also played a big role in Germany's history especially during the World War II, the Underground Hospital.
This historical place reflects the hardwork of the people who were forced by the conquerors to work. The tunnel also served as a hide out for the armies against air and sea assaults, since it is bombproof. Although this complex was not completed, it was used for storage of ammunitions and a station for casualty. For several times, the complex was bombed but it remained standing. This made it possible for the memory of the people, who risked their lives for Germany, live up to this day.

Today, if you talk about tattoo people would think your mind is not in a good shape because there is a negative connotation for people with tattoos. Such people are stereotyped as "addicts or convicts." But did you know that in Germany tattoo is considered art and is one of their tourist attractions?
Germans have a historical passion for decoration of bodies. The German Emperor in 1152, Friedrich Barbossa was often illustrated with a design of cross at his hands. Another Emperor named Kaiser Wihelm was said have a design of eagle in his chest. According to history, the first tattoist who became famous in United States was a German.
Many years have passed and tattoo became a tourist attraction in Germany. Many famous Germans joined sideshow. Don Manuelo, designed his back with the scene in military battle, eagle, and flags in crossed position, while he put women and sailors who look like Indians in his chest. There were also attractions that are double like Miss Alwanda and Miss Creola who designed their bodies with the queens and kings of Europe. All their designs reflect different German stories. Now, who says tattoo is only for addicts?

Germany is famous for its opera houses. One of the most recognized opera houses in the country is the one dedicated to the performance of Richard Wagner’s operas. The Bayreuth Festspielhaus, built north of the town of Bayreuth, is the exclusive scene for the annual Bayreuth Festival. In fact, the opera house was built to host the said event. The building was constructed under Wagner’s supervision. Wagner was inspired by the design of the Gottfriend Semper and used it as the Bayreuth Festspielhaus’s design foundation.
It was first opened on August 13, 1876. The first opera performed on the Bayreuth Festspielhaus was the Der Ring des Nibelungen, or the Rings of the Nibelungs, which is a four-opera cycle. It was performed from August 13 up to August 17, 1876. One of the best features of the Bayreuth Festspielhaus is what Wagner calls a “mystic gulf” which gives the audience the impression that the stage is farther away than it usually is. This reinforces the mythic and mystical content in most of the operas by Wagner. Most conductors claim that performing in the Bayreuth Festspielhaus is the greatest challenge in their career because of the opera house's interior design. The orchestra pit is hidden under the stage and covered with a hood making it hard to synchronize the orchestra with the singers.

I am sure you have heard one of Germany's prides, the famous Romantic Road. The good news is that there is another budding 'romantic' place not very far from this area. In fact, it is a relatively quaint village halfway through Romantic Road, in the southern part of Rothenburg. The village is called Dinkelsbuhl.
Sounds funny, right? Well, do not be fooled by its size. Dinkelsbuhl is populated with more than eleven thousand residents as well as crafty shops and artistic studios. If you are a traveler who is planning on getting that much-coveted German souvenir, I suggest you buy from the likes of Greifen, Holzschnitzerei Buckl, or Kunststuben Appelberg in Dinkelsbuhl. These shops sell various carvings, nativity figures, and pottery. If you dig ceramics, you could even stay in special hotel that is partnered with a ceramics manufacturer. How's that for being creative?
Dinkelsbuhl has plenty of hotels and restaurants to choose from, and what makes this place lovely is that it is not too crowded. Thus, you can enjoy the sights and walk in the evenings down the old town, museums, art galleries, and gothic church of Saint George. You can listen to live jazz playing in the concert hall or even avail of the free night watchman tour.

One landmark that tourists going to Cologne, Germany should never miss (because it's really hard to miss) is the Cathedral, the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cologne and one of the famous sites in European tourism. Once it was completed in the 1880's, it was the tallest man-made structure in the entire world.
The Cathedral is famous for its towering spires that looks like outstreched hands touching the sky. Inside the medieval-inspired religious establisment is the Sarcophagus of the Magi, believed to be the final resting spot of the Christian Bible's Three Wise Men.

People who are fascinated with German literature should visit the city of Weimar in Germany for one obvious reason -- Goethe Museum. This is the museum where Wolfgang von Goethe agonized over his writings and produced his masterpiece which is simply entitled "Faust".
Aside from his works, other contributions of fellow poets in his era are displayed in the museum. If you are not really a fan, you could also explore Goethe's house called Garden House which is situated in a park along the river.

For those who never tire of the feeling of love, here is a romantic, lovely place in Germany that you can visit. The Romantic Road is one of the most popular vacation spots located on the outskirts of Autobahn. The Romantic Road is an area that stretches from Wuerzberg until the place of Fuessen. What makes the scenery on this side of the German country beautiful are the ancient ruins, palaces, fortresses and castles as well as the live events and open performances that can charm any traveler who are feasting themselves on the Romantic Road's delicious wines and cuisines.
