This truly is the modern age of digital information technology. Back then, most people were denied access to various information. But now, governments are planning to make such documents accessible for public viewing! In recent events, the German government is planning to open up and make accessible to the general public the archives of one of their most well known concentration camps. The actual death camp holds about a ton of information on the damn Nazi regime.

The German government is planning to let the general public have a peek at the documents contained within the vaults of one of its death camps. The actual death camp, a memento of the goddamn Holocaust, stands in the good German town Bad Arolsen. It holds quite a ton of information on the victims of the Hitler regime. German government officials have stated that making the archives contained within its vaults accessible to the general public would generally educate and inform the people of what actually happened in the Holocaust.

The Holocaust was Hitler's final solution for German dominance of the world. With this final solution, death camps were built so as to purge their country of "lesser mortals". The concentration camp in this country's town, Bad Arolsen, holds vital information on almost 17 million Holocaust victims. Its government is planning to make the archives contained within this death camp's vaults accessible to the general public. They have stated that it is for the dissemination of actual information so as to help future generations know of the stupidity of wars and racism.

With information on demand now a possibility due to digital information technology, people are getting smarter and smarter by the damn generation! But this is not only because of faster and easier information access. It would more be due to the volume of information that has been accumulated from centuries of human existence. With this, the connection between brain size and intelligence can be noted. A larger brain would be needed to hold larger volumes of information. But diet also plays an important role on intelligence. With this, recent studies have shown that the smartest people could be found in Germany.

Medical scientists and researchers have reported that among the people of the world, Germans are the smartest. This was from several tests a team of researchers have conducted on European countries. Germans topped the test results, garnering a 107-point average. I think it's more because of German culture that triggers them to be the smartest people on the planet. This is because some of the smartest persons in this world are from Germany, and culture could probably be seen as the prime cause of this. But the team of researchers that made this study have noted that diet plays a more important role than culture.

A German diet consists of almost the same food stuff to be found on any country. So how in hell could they actually be smarter than other people?! But the medical scientists and researchers who have found that Germans are the smartest people on the planet have noticed a larger brain size for Europeans living in the northern areas of the continent. A university professor known as Lynn has stated that colder regions of the planet produce people with larger brains. This is because of the need to eat animal meat since plant life is rather scarce in these areas. With meat stuff, you get more protein, and protein is generally for the brain. With this, I think a trip to Germany would be more of an educational venture than a leisurely one.

This group seems to have a thing with beef fillets and other gourmet stuff, police have told reporters. This is because this group, who are composed of about 30 people or so, have robbed several gourmet shops and restaurants for the last few months, always taking the beef fillets with them. The Kobe gourmet shop has reported that only the beef fillets were taken by this group when it was robbed early this week.
Recent events have baffled the authorities back in Germany. A group dressed in superhero costumes has robbed several chains of restaurants and gourmet shops in Hamburg. People are saying that Robin Hood and his Merrymen have been brought back to life, and that they are now making a statement on the uneven distribution of wealth in this country. Robin Hood and his Merrymen in Germany? Plus, in this modern information age? You've got to be putting one on me!
People have also told reporters that this series of gourmet shop and restaurant robberies in Hamburg are the group's idea of making the whole world see the inequality in Germany. While some people are dining in classy joints such as gourmet restaurants, half of this country's population is happy with bread and fish on their plates each and every day. Much like what we have here, don't you think?

The world has suddenly turned too damn sick for me with this news! Yes, we have lots of actual information on cannibalism being done here and there in history, but I think the cases are around two centuries old. Of course, this would give anyone the idea that these cases are either a result of misinformation, or bad education the people back then were receiving at the time these instances happened. With this recent cannibalism case, I think you'd better monitor the information your kids have access to on cyberspace. Better yet, even monitor those handheld mobile gizmos they use for communication purposes with the outside world.
This is because German self-confessed cannibal, by the name of Armin Meiwes, used an advertisement placed on cyberspace so as to commit one of his wildest fantasies. In court, this sick bastard told of his sob story as a boy growing up without the attention and care of a father, and his childhood crackpot fantasies of a brother who would be forever with him. With this, he had this sick fantasy that eating up someone, preferably male, would make this person stay with him always and forever. Talk about sick, man! But what's even sicker is this certain Bernd-Jurgen Brandes, the victim who willingly answered the ad placed by the damn cannibal! It seems to be quite a sensational case since the old victim was a willing prey to the fantasies of this sick bastard. The entire act was caught on video, and the court would be using it as evidence to see whether the victim willingly obliged to the cannibalistic desires of Mr. Miles, or otherwise.

If there's one thing that our German friends do well, it's to anticipate great things to come! I once told a few friends of mine that being in the company of teary-eyed Germans is like being among prophets and seers! Yes, German people know when there's something which is worth their time to cry on, or make decisions on, and let alone celebrate! With this, the good German government has expressed their sincerest support on building a foundation for their communities regarding open source design and development.
Those people high up in the ranks of their government have also stated that with open source design and development, the software industry would be able to produce more quality applications both for their own needs as well as for the entire planet's. With this, they plan on building technical facilities in which to develop their people's open source design and development skills. I think they see digital information technology as something which could be manipulated for each purpose, and that the way to this customizability is open source design and development. This is mainly because with such a platform, people could fully customize an application regarding its security features, as well as its functionality. That is, keeping it open for all to modify, which would evidently make the programs more accessible, usable, and cost-effective!

The world, as far as I can see it and through it, has certainly turned bonkers! With the advent of fast internet connections, we have equally fast-acting viruses, trojans, spyware, and hackers. With our energy resources being depleted by the minute, we spend twice as much of it! Plus, with the proliferation of the dreaded AIDS virus, or all those other sexually transmitted diseases, prostitution just turned legal in some countries, specifically in Germany! Well, this is not latest breaking news for most of us, but the idea that there are certain benefits you would be receiving from the German government in being a prostitute is indeed news! More so, losing certain benefits by not being one!
As one of the welfare states of the world, Germany has definitely taken one step ahead of its counterpart states in the European region. I think they even surpassed the absurdity of having heroin clinics and heroin addiction being treated as any other legal addiction. In the country's welfare provisions and laws, any woman aged 54 years and below who have not been formally employed for over, if not equal to, a year is subject to employment considerations in Germany's sex industry. If she doesn't do this, this poor woman would lose the unemployment benefits she is receiving from the government! The German government contends that this is a formidable solution for the growing unemployment rate of the country, and that the prostitutes are protected by certain laws and provisions that were set forth by the government specified for this employment post. A woman, not to be named for purposes of legality (and morality, I guess), has reported to have lost her unemployment benefits she has been receiving from the German government because she did not want to be a prostitute, and yet there were no other options regarding employment that were available for her to choose otherwise.

Yes, folks, this is Germany and this is where World Cup fever is rising -- fast. But how come World Cup came into the picture when all we're talking about is the remains of spitted gum? Well, that becomes a major issue when the gum has the spit of a German celebrity player.
That's right. Germany's goalkeeper, Jens Lehmann, or his saliva, rather, is probably the most priced commodity recently bought on an online auction. Yes, people, B-O-U-G-H-T! Can you believe a crap like that could amount to more than 500 euros?! Tsk, tsk. The extent of what people could do for their share of fame...
For those who are frequent patrons of E-bay and such money-making sites, there is no need to worry about being duped because the second-hand piece is claimed to be as authentic as George Michael being gay. According to reports, the finder had VIP access to a match, which enabled the person to roam around and pick up (not with bare hands, silly, but a hanky -- careful to preserve the spit) the spoils of the game. Obviously, the seller did not intend to be the keeper of the souvenir, but hey, with that high a bid for being a real sports vulture (literally speaking) for a day, no wonder many takers were inspired with their own abracadabras. Then again, it is still unsure whether the actual auction pushed through or the gum indeed contains Lehmann's DNA.

Now, tourists can finally set their feet onto the controversial bunker of German tyrant leader Adolf Hitler. It was officially distinguished on Thursday. The ruins of the underground shelter are located under a parking space, an apartment establishment, and a playground. The marker for the bunker shows graphics and photos plus a lineup of events written in English and German.
The bunker is no doubt the most denotative places in Germany. The organization that made the marking arrangements wanted people to know the truth. The ceremony is attended by Sergeant Misch, Hitler's bodyguard during the war. He's a witness to the Nazi leader's last days.
Earlier, it was reported that Berlin representatives are hesitant in having the bunker to the public because they anticipated that Nazi supporters might convert the historical site into a ground for pilgrimage. But amidst their reluctance, the truth about the underground shelter was let out. At this point in time, the bunker receives visitors from all over the world while the bunker guides are painstakingly disproving the myths about the historical site. True, it will be very difficult to let people see the real picture inside the thirty feet deep bunker, but given ample time, the story behind Hitler's death will surface the myths.

We know of the drastic impact the Third Reich has left in Germany. The memories of Holocaust and of the tyrant leader Hitler that remind us of the massacre of innocent men and women. The survivors of the tragedy can not help but talk about the past. We cannot blame them because the trauma can never be healed by time. But, although the freedom of speech is practiced in Germany, the voicing out of sentiments with regards to Holocaust is restricted.
What is the matter? The times of old have passed, and even if we put up monuments, museums, make documentary films, still the better relief for the victims is to speak-out there sentiments. With this matter, there were two sides of the story. There are those who still adhere with Hitler, while there are those who painstakingly and repeatedly tell their stories.
Just recently, a case was brought to the court with regards to the conflict between a Jew who supports Iraq and plaintiffs who hate the policies of Israel. You see, even in our times, the fight goes on. Either of the two parties claim to have been only expressing their opinions. Their clash only revealed the real picture. The Jews who were the victim of Nazi adheres to Iraq who hates Germany. See the link? This was just consequence of speech freedom in Germany.

I am beginning to be alarmed by the various protests in German streets these past few days. After the immigration law protest protest, here is, once again, another clash that involves the two major political parties in Germany. I always get to read in the news the grievances of German people. Even after the great wall has been destroyed, discrimination still prevails. It is just so sad that an industrialized country like Germany is facing such conflicts.
Let us face the truth that force is not a remedy. Every event requires right timing, and every change in history demands a period of time for it to take full effect. But, with the situation in Germany, such conviction is hard to prove. I have seldom told my friends to take the neutral side. I mean, it is better that we are open minded, than know only one side of the story. However the massive protest that Germans made in line with the celebration of the annual Walpurgis night only proves that former East Germans are being, still, deprived of by the West. They claim themselves to be Neo-Nazis or new-Nazis. I was amazed by the strong conviction of this group as they protest about the help being given by the government. If I am not mistaken, the Neo-Nazis are trying to claim their rights as to the appropriate treatment and equal opportunity. I just hope that the matter would be settled before the unthinkable happens. It will be a great loss for German government if its people be divided again all because of such discrimination.

Have you been thinking about moving to Germany? Probably reading this blog for a long time now had somehow convince you that Germany is indeed a great country, as you have seen in the beautiful German cities I have shown you. But do you have any idea on how to become a bona fide German citizen?
For those who are interested to be a Deutscher Bürger, you need to sit language tests plus courses for would-be citizens followed by tests. This is based on a news article which was an agreement reached between the State Ministers for Internal Affairs meeting in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The said courses will cover things any citizen should know, democratic values and a knowledge of the Federal Constitution to be conducted by the 'Federal Migration and Refugee Agency'.
In most cases applicants will need to pay for the courses. The federal states may also ask for an oath of allegiance, or a citizen's declaration instead, to formalize the grant of citizenship. The goal of the government was to get more people to apply for citizenship. But the Federal Commissioner for Migration and Refugees Boehmer is insisting the new rule that requires applicants to renounce their current citizenship before they apply (no automatic dual-citizenship) which may put off some who don't value the advantage of additional 'EU-citizenship.'

I wonder if there is an exodus happening in several parts of Europe. Last time, it was France who declared more restrictions for immigrants. This time around, it is Germany who is declaring policies set for illegal immigrants.
I happen to learn the news upon reading an advisory in www.dw-world.de. According to the news, many foreigners who enter the country as workers end up illegally staying in German cities. I think this is really unfair for the government because this practice causes much trouble with census and tax evaluation. But, I am not surprised to know that these people come from South African countries, Europe, and America. Almost all of them were compelled to flee to Germany hoping to start a new life.
I have already heard of the regulations implemented by the German government. The situation is very difficult to handle. I know of a woman who lives illegally in Germany for quite long time. She happens to meet a German who made her his wife. In that instant, she becomes a German citizen. This might be the case of most of the women. Again, one time, a friend of mine told me that his nephew was deported to US because the German government found out that the parents of the child are illegal residents. They were reported to the police by the school who admitted the child. Such scenarios are heartbreaking specially for families. But, if you ask me, there is no easy way to live in foreign lands, but the legal way.

The prices of energy in Germany are reaching the skies. Just recently, a press conference was held in Frankfurt discussing the current issues on energy prices. It is undeniable that we are talking of business here.
Business as usual. As the number of competitors increase in Europe, the German state openly declared that it is looking forward to lower energy prices. But, hope remains hope, since the prices are uncontrollable. It was said that are various factors affecting the pricing of energy. German alone cannot implement decreases because of the outside influences that in one or another rule the market. Obviously, all that is left to do is to subsidize local providers.
I believe that there are numerous ways to alleviate the burden of price increase to the people. It was once said that on-time payers must be given priority over those who are late payers. Also, issues came out that competitors did not present their checking of their sales, thus rumors spread that they have been doing some anomaly while the people do not get well benefited. Though Germany is among the leading energy providers in the great European continent, it still can cope with the battle even if it has already expressed its grievances over the high prices.

A domestic cat found dead near a ferry terminal on Rugen, north of Berlin, Germany, on February 2006 tested positive of H5N1 avian flu, laboratory leader Thomas Mettenleiter announced. Series of tests revealed that the cat ate a bird flu infected canary. There are many health incidents in Europe, but the animal is the first mammal to die of the said virus.
Bird flu, which originated in Asia, has now infiltrated Germany. Thousands of birds, most of them ducks, were killed to stop the spread of the deadly dormant virus. Although a cat died of the virus by eating an infected bird, there has not been a case proven that the virus can move from cats to humans. The incident is truly an alarming one and experts are monitoring the progress of other countries' laboratory experiments and already are preparing for the possible spread of the disease by providing flu vaccines to help cure bird flu.
Authorities warned pet owners, especially those who are living within the vicinity of Rugen, to keep and feed their cats indoors for now and be careful in giving them what to eat to prevent. The incident prompted the World Health Organization to keep an eye on more incidents since tigers and leopard had been infected in Thailand after being fed chicken carcasses, dying from H5N1 in 2003 and 2004. However, Mettenleiter emphasized that the incident has nothing to do with the spread of the disease or the threat of an epidemic.

Germany Prime Minister Frank Walter Steinmeir denied allegations that the two German intelligence agents dispatched in Iraq secretly aided the US Military in the war against Iraq in 2003.
Steinmeir, who cut short his Middle East visit to answer questions by the opposition, said that the agents were given "no support for the pursuit of war," as he put it. The Prime Minister added that the agent's role in Baghdad was to observe the war and identify sites that should not be targeted.

Every January 27 to February 14, Germany celebrates Mozart's anniversary, the Mozart Festival so there's reason to celebrate even after the New Year. Of course, the performers are all-star cast, the music festival is celebrated at the Bavarian State Opera. The famous Zubin Mehta will conduct the opera, Mozart's Great C minor, alongside the Jupiter symphony. Of course, the children can also enjoy the festival.
There are guided tours for the younger set to enjoy and there are also music workshops and introductory events. Presentations such as the "La clemenza di Tito," will be back onstage. There are so many entertainment to look forward to this month, only in Germany!

Europe, Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, who will be having an inaugural visit to the United States and a meeting with President Bush, stated that Germany plans to offer trainings and aid to Iraq and the Iraqi police forces based in Saudi Arabia. The services of the German troops in Iraq, however, will not be a part of the proposal. The proposal is yet to be considered by President Bush, their meeting after Chancellor Merkel's inaugural visit would tackle the issue at hand, whether Germany expands aid in Iraq.
